From New York City it was on to Baltimore, MD for the ASTRA toy convention.

Perplexus display at ASTRA

ASTRA stands for American Specialty Toy Retailing Association and is an annual convention where toy retailers across the US attend to check out new products and vendors. Amanda and I had a prime location right in the front lobby of the convention center.

We even got to see President Obama (…from afar)! The President attended a conference at the Hyatt Hotel located across the street from the Baltimore Convention Center where ASTRA was held. Amanda and I stood by the glass doors and watched as the President and First Lady made their way to the hotel. Unfortunately Obama was not able to stop by and try out Perplexus, but we understand he is a busy guy.

Ship with dancing sailors

After ASTRA we had a few days off to enjoy the Baltimore area. We took Perplexus down to the inner harbor and watched the Navy ships come in. Last week in Baltimore was Sailibration, an event honoring the war of 1812. Navy ships from all over the world docked at the Baltimore Harbor as the sailors flanked the sails upon arrival (see photo on left – yes, those are people).

Next we take a Barstons Child’s Play mini-tour as we stop at Barstons locations throughout Maryland and Virginia.

Thank you for hosting the Perplexus display in the lobby of the Baltimore Convention. We really enjoyed all the attention it received as well as getting a chance to play with it during down times. It is a beautiful toy.
